Privacy Policy
Last Updated: July 26, 2024
1. Introduction
Welcome to CamelPad ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly. This Privacy Policy explains how we manage information when you use our website and services (collectively, the "Service"). By using CamelPad, you agree to the terms outlined in this policy.
Our service provides a simple, password-protected storage solution without requiring traditional user accounts.
2. Information We Handle
CamelPad is designed to minimize data collection. We handle the following types of information:
- Password: You provide a password to access your storage space. We use this password (specifically, a server-side representation or hash linked to it) solely to identify and grant access to your designated storage folder within our backend system (Google Drive). We strongly recommend using a unique and strong password for CamelPad that you do not use elsewhere. We do not store your plain-text password.
- Uploaded Files: Any files you upload are stored within your designated, password-associated folder in our Google Drive backend.
- Saved Notes: Text notes created using the Service are saved as encrypted `.txt` files within your designated folder.
- Usage Data (Limited & Anonymous): Like most websites, our server may automatically log basic, non-personally identifiable information such as IP address (often anonymized or generalized), browser type, access times, and referring URLs. This is used for security monitoring, troubleshooting, and analyzing service usage trends. We do not link this data to specific user files or notes.
We do not require or collect: Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any other personally identifiable information to use the core features of CamelPad.
3. How We Use Information
- Providing the Service: Your password (hash) is used to authenticate access to your specific storage folder. Uploaded files and notes are stored to make them accessible to you upon successful authentication.
- Security and Maintenance: Anonymous usage data helps us monitor for security threats, diagnose technical problems, and ensure the service is operating correctly.
- Service Improvement: Aggregated, anonymous usage data may be analyzed to understand how the service is used and identify areas for improvement.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Backend Storage: We utilize Google Drive infrastructure, accessed via a secure service account, as the backend for file and note storage. Google provides robust security measures for its cloud platform.
- Access Control: Access to your specific storage folder is controlled via your unique password (hash) verification on our server.
- Encryption: While Google Drive encrypts data at rest and in transit, the specific details of file content encryption within CamelPad depend on the implementation. Notes are explicitly saved as encrypted text files.
- User Responsibility: The security of your storage ultimately depends on the strength and confidentiality of your chosen password. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and not sharing it. If you forget your password, there is no recovery mechanism, and access to your stored data will be lost.
While we implement reasonable security measures, no system is impenetrable. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. User Responsibilities and Usage Limits
To ensure fair use and maintain service stability, users must adhere to the following:
- Password Security: You are solely responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password.
- File Size Limit: Each individual file uploaded must not exceed 50MB.
- File Count Limit: Users can store a maximum of 10 files at any given time (excluding the single note file).
- No Duplicate Uploads: Uploading a file with the exact same name as an existing file in your storage is not permitted. Rename the file or delete the existing one first.
- Lawful Use: You agree not to use CamelPad to store illegal, infringing, or harmful content. We reserve the right to remove content or suspend access if misuse is detected.
- Network Connection: Ensure you have a stable internet connection for optimal upload and download performance.
6. Cookies
CamelPad may use essential cookies for basic website functionality, such as session management (if applicable for keeping you logged in during a session, though our model minimizes this) or remembering interface preferences (like note vs. file view). We do not use cookies for tracking across other sites or collecting personal data for non-essential purposes without consent.
Third-party services, like Google AdSense (see below), may use their own cookies. Please refer to their respective privacy policies.
You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.
7. Third-Party Advertising (Google AdSense)
To support the free availability of CamelPad, we may display advertisements provided by Google AdSense.
- Google AdSense uses cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Privacy Policy.
